Experience

Tsushima’s

four

major seasonal

festivals

through

VR movies.

The city of Tsushima, located in the Owari region of
Aichi Prefecture, prospered in former times as
a temple town for Tsushima-jinja Shrine and
a port town for the Tennogawa River,
and it has developed a festival culture
that exemplifies its wealth and vitality.
Its four major festivals that take place
during each of the four seasons are
the Owari Tsushima Wisteria Festival in spring,
the Owari Tsushima Tennoh Festival in summer,
the Owari Tsushima Autumn Festival in fall,
and the Omito Festival in winter.
In December, 2016,
the Owari Tsushima Tennoh Festival was registered
as the UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage
“Yama, Hoko, Yatai float festivals in Japan,”
and we are commemorating that
with virtual-reality movies that make the viewer
feel immersed in Tsushima's four major festivals.
Viewers who develop an interest
in Tsushima through these VR movies are
encouraged to come and see the actual festivals
for themselves.

How to Get There

We invite you to come and experience not only the four major festivals,
but also the history, culture, and natural environment of Tsushima city.

Tsushima city is located about 16 km west of Nagoya city, and going by train, you can get there in about 30 minutes from Nagoya, or an hour from Central Japan International Airport.
Discover the many attractions Tsushima city has to offer, including important historical and cultural heritage properties, such as the old Hotta family residence, a national important cultural property, and the Owari Tsushima Tennoh Festival, an event held continuously for almost 600 years; the seasonal nature views at Tennogawa Park, where one can see cherry blossoms in spring, wisteria and water lilies in summer, colorful leaves in fall, and a snowy landscape in winter.
